TOPIC: Log of status \ malfunctions \ etc

Hi there,
TeslaModbus is logging a server connection status into phone notification area - that's nice. Is there any method to log some predefined text \ timestamp with a change of binary value?
e.g.: "Waterpump 3 - malfunction - 2014-03-18 7:48:05" ... umm, timestamp should be great, but it will work only if app in phone is running non-stop (in our case it will - see my other thread about sound).
